Nneka Perry is a dedicated, and hard-working Community Leader and Advocate with over 22 years of experience in non-profit work. In her previous role as a Senior Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Social Impact, she developed strong relationships with key stakeholders, staff, funders, and community members to advance the organization's strategic objectives and community capacity building. Nneka is passionate about community work, youth development, and creating respectful and equitable organizations. She looks to her mentors and family for support while remaining grounded as she continues to build a lasting community legacy. Nneka serves as an inspiration to those around her.
About the Project
Beautifully Minded is inspired by Nneka Perry’s personal experience with Alzheimer's/Dementia. Her mother, Joan, has been battling this condition for over four years, and it has been progressing rapidly. This project is dedicated to her and aims to create supportive spaces that specifically address the unique needs of Black communities dealing with Alzheimer’s/Dementia. There is a lack of culturally competent services for Black individuals facing Alzheimer's/Dementia, which has led to stigma and a lack of understanding when seeking support. By acknowledging and addressing this barrier, we can establish effective support systems for Black caregivers coping with Alzheimer’s/Dementia for generations to come.
