Avery Greaves

Free Little Food Pantries | Goderich, ON

Avery Greaves is a librarian working in rural Southwestern Ontario. In recent years, thanks to the Libraries Transforming Communities (LTC) work she has undertaken, she has found her calling in being a community-driven librarian. She is passionate about meeting the needs of the communities that she serves, whether it be introducing someone to their new favourite author, to working alongside local businesses in family-based programming, to supporting individuals with technological inquiries, to assisting community members in accessing community services, and more. In her down time, she enjoys living on Ontario’s West Coast, with its amazing hiking trails and double sunsets.

About the Project

The Free Little Food Pantries project will bring the mini food pantry movement to Goderich. The pantries, spread out throughout the community of 8,000 people, will help to lessen food insecurity (being open 24/7/365). The project will also allow community members the opportunity to become direct agents of change themselves, by donating to the pantries, spreading the word about it, volunteering and more. The project will also ensure that local makers and businesses are prioritized in the construction and maintenance of the pantries.
