Time to Be Together and Help Our Community | Utopia, Ontario
Robert is a 19-year-old Lifeskill student at Bear Creek High School. He has volunteered with his sister and parents since he was very young. Robert has learned a great deal about food, composting, and community through his volunteer efforts. He enjoys spending time with his friends, playing sports (including Special Olympics), and watching sports. They also enjoy learning new skills, especially those that encourage independence. Robert has a therapy dog named Farley, and he is his best friend. Robert has recently taken a pre-employment course to help him set his sights on working a few hours a week.
About the Project
Time to Be Together and Help Our Community is a program where a group of individuals with special needs come together monthly to learn how to plan and maintain a garden, grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs. As each grows, learn how to cook healthy meals and preserve them for the winter. While learning to cook, bake, and/or preserve, they can provide food for those in our community who lack access to these resources. Discover how to lead a healthy life while making a positive impact in our community and learning the importance of composting, growing our own, and so much more.
