About the Project
Sureya Ibrahim’s project idea focuses on several demographics. First mothers who have lost their children from gun violence have the opportunity to join the organization and heal with like-minded individuals. This program includes healing trips to get the mothers outside of the community and time for themselves. They have previously gone to places like Center Island, Niagara Falls, and hiking in the GTA. We often include a licensed therapist so these mothers can address their trauma in a safe environment. Sureya believes this fosters social inclusion within her community, by reaching out to mothers who would otherwise not find help to heal.
